(Not-So) Happy Town

I know I'm a late bloomer when it comes to TV series but hey at least I didn't miss the boat like some people right?  By the way, when Happy Town came to our shores few months back (geez I can't recall the exact month but why bother =p), I have to say the trailer really caught my interest.  I'm not sure why, but spooky, mysterious shows always on the top of my list even though I have to watch my own palms most of the time haha!  So back to the show, I managed to watch the 1st episode but then I got too caught up with college (okay, okay I have to admit that I can't remember the aired time for the show).  Since I've only watch ONE episode I figured it won't hurt if I miss the show at all.

So fast forward few months, which happened to be last Saturday, when I was left alone at home (huhu poor me) early in the morning and was so lazy to do my laundry, I turned on the stupid box and guess what??!!  FOX was having a non-stop marathon of Happy Town!! Yippie!!! Mmm..yippie once more for me!!! Only GOD knows how excited I was at the time. To make things even better, it was the 1st episode and I only missed it for like 6 mins!! It really made my weekend even though it was a bit tiring to watch 5 episodes back-to-back (toilet breaks were really frustrating!!!!!).

Being me, to wait for another 1 whole week for the next marathon is the hardest thing on Earth (yea, I still didn't know what time the show aired. Poor me) so I Google with the intention to watched it online.  However, to my dismay, I found that after 8 episodes, the show is cancelled due to poor rating!!!  OMG!!  Why on Earth did they cancel the show? Why not cancelling those nonsense reality shows instead??  A reality show that screams PHONY!!!  I was really mad, I still am.  I was thinking not to continue watching the last 3 episodes but the urge to know who the Magic Man is really killing me.  So I watched the marathon earlier this morning (yup I woke up early so that I could watch it at 7 am).

So, did the show reveal who's the Magic Man is?  Not literally but if you digest all the clues, I bet you know who he really is but I hate the finale coz the plot is left hanging.  It left me with lots of questions that, unfortunately, no one was able to answer except making our own inferences.  Really.

So, what's my inference?  I think the Magic Man is Alice Conroy.  Well, Peggy Haplin did kill her, well at least tried to kill her but she survived.  To safe his wife, Sheriff Conroy agreed to keep his mouth shut about the murder so that Peggy Haplin won't know that Alice is still alive.  As a revenge, Alice began to kidnap people of Haplin town just to taint Peggy Haplin's reputation as the town's royalty (I think so).  Perhaps it was Sheriff Conroy who hid the hammer used in the murder at Meadows Boarding House.  Who is Henley/Chloe? I think Henley is Addie Haplin that was kidnapped by the Magic Man and Alice brought her up as her own daughter (Alice was using the name 'Suzy').  I think Tommy is Simon (Grieves' son who was earlier kidnapped by the Magic Man).  Alice (or Suzy) sent Henley to Happy Town to warn Peggy Haplin (indirectly) that the murder was not forgotten.  Why did the Alice kidnap her own DIL?  Maybe to make sure that Tommy will reopen and look deeper into the Magic Man's case and found out that Peggy Haplin is a bad person.  Why do I think Henley is Addie?  There was a scene where Sheriff Conroy kept saying that Chloe gonna make chaos and her blood is black? (the scene before he chopped off his hand) and in the last episode when Tommy asked him whether Peggy Haplin killed his mom, he, again mentioned about black blood which he referred to Peggy.  So there's must be a blood connection between the two right?  Why did Alice kidnap 5 other people, I don't know.  I just hope that there is another network co willing to take up the pieces and continue the show.  It's a real shame that a good show like this is cancelled.  It helps people to use their brains more.

A show with not-so-happy-ending =(
