It is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is "reward, present".   Also possibly from Latin meaning "distinguished; helpful".   More likely though a name created for the Ethiopian princess in Giuseppe Verdi's opera of the same name.

Whoa!! I like 'wealthy' and 'distinguished' hahaha but 'help/helper' really surprise me because one of the reasons why I study psychology is to help other people.   I guess it does describe me well.   At least, I'm glad that my name has a rather positive meanings, not only in one language but several languages as well =)   Oh yeah, did I meantion that it's a name of a princess?   Wah, I feel like a princess already hehehe.
